Prof. V.S. Agrawala, a versatile scholar, Sanskriti Purusha and, above all, a man par excellence, was great Indologist and an Institution in himself. Through the publication of this volume– Prof. V. S. Agrawala Janmashati Smriti Grantha– S¡tvat¡rchana eminent scholars of Indian Art and Culture, including disciples of Prof. Agrawala like Prof. Anand Krishna, Dr. Kapila Vatsyayan, Dr. N.P. Joshi, Dr. S.N. Pandey, Shri R.C. Agrawal, have paid their tribute to him. The volume contains research papers covering all the important areas dear to Prof. V.S. Agrawala, such as Indian Art and Aesthetics, Study of ancient Indian Texts, Numismatics, Museology, Epigraphy and his specific contributions to the writing of Cultural History in Hindi, as well as to Hindi literature. The articles highlight the contributions of Prof. V.S. Agrawala with new findings, interpretations and conclusions. Agrawal.<br /><br />सात्वतार्चन के रूप में विद्वज्जनों की यह सारस्वत श्रद्धांजलि उस मनीषी के जन्मशती के अवसर पर अॢपत है जिन्होंने सात्वत वंश के शिरोमणि वासुदेव के शरण में रहते हुए अपना जीवन यापन किया। भारती विद्या एवं संस्कृति के प्रखर अध्येता प्रोफेसर वासुदेव शरण अग्रवाल काशी हिन्दू विश्वविद्यालय के कला एवं स्थापत्य (वर्तमान में कला-इतिहास एवं पर्यटन प्रबन्ध) विभाग के 1951-66 तक अध्यक्ष रहे। प्रस्तुत संकलन के सात पर्व हैं। पहले पर्व में अग्रवाल जी का संक्षिप्त जीवन चरित, उनकी चुनी हुई कृतियों की एक सूची, पद्मभूषण राय कृष्णदास द्वारा अग्रवाल जी का एक मूल्यांकन तथा अग्रवाल जी द्वारा लिखित लेख विष्णु का विक्रमण का पुनप्र्रकाशन है। साथ ही कला-इतिहास एवं पर्यटन प्रबन्ध विभाग का संक्षिप्त परिचय तथा आयोजित राष्ट्रीय संगोष्ठी का विवरण एवं उस अवसर पर डॉ० कपिला वात्स्यायन द्वारा किया गया उद्घाटन सम्बोधन एवं प्रो० दयानाथ त्रिपाठी के उद्बोधन सम्मिलित हैं। शेष छ: पर्वों में कुल अट्ठाईस प्रपत्र हैं। उल्लिखित छ: पर्व इस प्रकार हैं-अग्रवाल जी द्वारा भारतीय संस्कृति के अध्ययन में किए गए योगदानों की चर्चा से सम् बन्धित छ: प्रपत्र, अग्रवाल जी की समग्र दृष्टि को स्पष्ट करने वाले चार प्रपत्र, अग्रवाल जी के प्रिय विषयों पर किए गए अध्ययनों से जुड़े छ: प्रपत्र, अग्रवाल जी द्वारा की गई कुछ व्याख्याओं के पुनॢवश्लेषण के चार प्रपत्र, भारतीय कला एवं संस्कृति के विभिन्न पक्षों पर किए गए अध्ययनों के सात प्रपत्र एवं अग्रवाल जी के कुछ दिशा निर्देश तथा अपने जीवन में सम्पादित किए जाने वाले कार्यों की सूची का हस्तलेख प्रस्तुत करते हुए लिखा गया एक प्रपत्र। सात्वतार्चन की पुष्पमाला के ये पुष्प-प्रपत्र वर्ग-समूह में गुंफित न होकर यत्र-तत्र बिखरे हुए रखे गए हैं।
