The book presents a discussion on various theories of rights as presented by nineteenth and early twentieth century representative english thinkers Green, Bosanquet, Spencer and Laski. This has been done with a purpose. These thinkers represent the idealist, the individualist and the Marxist view points. The earlier chapters attempt to study and analyse the ideas of individual thinkers. In the last chapter all the theories of rights are made subject of comparative critical and philosophical analysis. although the argument is conducted at a theoretical and philosophical plane it has a bearing on problems of practical implementation as can be seen from the concluding chapter.
